To banish the wolves
A group of men touches enormous
rattles of cow in the annual ritual "to banish the wolves"
("Wolfauslassen"), in the Rinchnach community, in the Bavaria,
Germany. The previous night to St. Martin is very noisy in the
small locality, situated in the region of the Bavarian forest.
This year, about 600 people had been joined for a rite that the
researchers say to have origin in an old ritual with two purposes:
to move away the bad spirits and the other, sufficiently more
practical, to scare and to move away the wolves and bears.
