Bangkok became the 22nd sister of Seoul
"The City of Bangkok, the capital of Thailand, became the 22nd sister city of Seoul. On June 16, Vice Mayor Won Se-hoon of Seoul signed a sisterhood agreement with the Mayor of Bangkok at the Bangkok City Hall.
According to the agreement, Seoul and Bangkok will share and exchange knowledge and experiences in sectors like information technology, transportation, the environment, urban planning, and cultural infrastructure.
Discussions about the agreement came after Vice Mayor Panich Vikitsreth of Bangkok came to Seoul to participate in the Seoul World Mayors Forum held in September 2005.
280 city officials from the Bangkok city government had visited Seoul six times between May and June this year to learn Seoul's advanced policies on public transportation reform, environment preservation, and autonomous administration.
Bangkok, with a population of 8.2 million, is earnestly seeking solutions to urban problems regarding traffic congestion in downtown areas, air pollution and seasonal floods. "
